About
Frederico Araujo is a Brazilian actor and director born in Rio de Janeiro. He graduated in Theater - Acting - at UNIRIO, Brazil, in 2010. In 2020, he was approved to do his master's degree in Belgium, in Theater Direction - at RITCS (Royal Institute for Theater Cinema & Sound), where his research has just been completed. He is a multidisciplinary artist who has developed his work mainly on stage, where he created 19 shows between Brazil and Belgium.
He also accumulated experience in dance, circus, performance and as a dance/drama teacher. Its first creation in Belgium took place in 2013 for the show “Burning”, directed by Frédéric Dussenne in co-production with Le Rideau de Bruxelles. On that occasion, he was chosen by the director during an artistic workshop among Brazilian artists, in Brazil. In 2019, director Chloé Sadoine/Cie. Tangentes invited Frederico to be part of “Rêves de Papier/Sonhos de Papel”, a show created for babies between Rio de Janeiro and Brussels.
In 2021 and 2022, he taught theater and dance classes to children as a regular teacher in La Roseraie; and he was invited to develop the “Homelands, places of belonging” project in Wolubilis on the initiative of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. In May 2022, he directed and performed his first solo, part of his master's research at RITCS: “Love, Solitude and Box(es)”. In September 2022, a new creation was born: “In the Middle of Nowhere”, in collaboration with Kristien De Proost and produced by CAMPO Victoria. In March 2023, as a director, performer and writer, he created “SHARK”. With this project, he obtained his master's degree with great distinction as a theater director at RITCS. “Antígona na Amazônia” is his ongoing project in season 23-24, in which Frederico is pleased to be part of the team in his first (hopefully not the last!) collaboration with Milo Rau and produced by NTGent. For 2024-2025, Frederico is preparing a new show after being awarded the MILL'S BEAUTY/REALITY SALON research incentive grant, from the Belgian group Needcompany.
